Website Review: Top Tools for Learning
by Kate M. Burkes

I often browse the Centre for Learning and Performance Technologies.  Its Top Tools for Learning page is a great place to find free technology resources and is an excellent source of teaching and learning strategy ideas for incorporation into your own distance learning professional development.  Jane’s E-Learning Pick of the Day and Jane’s short “tweets” via the social-networking tool Twitter are also valuable.  The only annoying thing about Jane’s E-Learning Pick of the Day site is the ad bar on the right; however, this can easily be overlooked due to the otherwise high-quality content the site contains.

burkes-kate-top-tools-for-learning-02This site includes a comprehensive catalog of learning tools updated yearly to reflect the latest technologies in distance learning. Anyone can suggest a new tool.  Each suggestion is voted on to establish a popularity ranking. Currently the 2009 list is open for contributions and voting.

I highly recommend this site to all who are interested in distance learning in all its formats, and especially for those who want to keep up with the ever-changing world of learning technologies.
