Video Tutorials for Faculty Training
by Kate M.
Burkes
In the Fall of 2007,
Northwest Arkansas Community College
decided to develop a set of flash
video tutorials to help faculty in the most common tasks of developing
and maintaining an online course. We did this using
Camtasia
Studio, a relatively inexpensive screen-capture software from Techsmith.
Since then, we have come across the free CamStudio
and Jing which
might have provided sufficient functionality for a project like ours.
Is Your Institution Ready to Authenticate
Distance Learning Students?
by
Michael Jortberg When the
1,100-page Higher Education Authorization Act was signed into law in August
2008, one passage on distance learning stood out. Arkansas
institutions with SACS or
NCA accreditation will soon be asked how their
institution validates that the distance learning student doing the work is
actually the student registered for the class.
Real-Time Presenter
by Dr. Gordon
Apple
Ed4U,
an Arkansas company formerly in Redondo Beach, CA, is developing a new type
of course presentation product that it plans to release in the first half of
2009. The product is called Real-Time Presenter Video Edition (RTP-VE).
RTP-VE’s unique features allow the producer to create a live presentation
with professional quality for a group of people in a lecture hall while
simultaneously broadcasting the presentation in real-time over video
delivery systems.
